Motherboard rear ports get no power

The board is an ECS GeForce6100SM-M2 I got with an X2 4200+ in a combo deal at Frys.

All told it cost me about $10, so I'm not too bummed (or that surprised) about it going out, except that it was running a server that I would like to get back up and going. The sooner the better.

It all started with some storms we had the other week with lots of lightening. The power shut off a couple times, but when I turned it back on it worked just fine.

Later that day I shut it down remotely (I don't normally have a monitor attached to it) to put more RAM and a couple more NICs in it, and when I get done I seal it up, hit the power button, hear the fans spin up, and go about my business.

Well, later that day I go back to make sure it was really up and I could get into it properly, and it wasn't showing up on the network. I go plug a monitor into it, and the monitor doesn't get a signal. I do notice the on board NIC is lit however.

I have to hold the power button in to shut it down, I take out all the new hardware I put in, then turn it back on. There is still nothing showing on the monitor (it just goes into sleep mode). I now notice that the on board NIC is dark...

I take out the one stick of RAM I have in there and it beeps like it has no RAM, so I know its posting that far, but when I put either that stick or another brand new stick of RAM in it, nothing happens. I don't even get the normal "OK" beep that happens when it successfully posts.

Another thing I tried was to put in a PCI NIC and see what that did. It lit up, but even after waiting a few minutes it didn't show up on the network.

It seems to me that the motherboard is at least partially dead, but I can't seem to find my receipt (even though I can find every other one from Frys :disgust:), so RMA might be out of the question. :(

Any ideas or suggestions?

It's a 420W... not real new but seems in good condition, and it was just 1 more stick of DDR2 RAM and 2 NICs.

I may try another PSU though. Thats a good thought.

You are a smart man BassBomb...

I just tested it with a PSU from another working computer and it boots up fine.

Looks like I'll be getting another PSU

Thanks for the help! :D
