Motherboard/RAID question?

On a motherboard with raid support such as the MSI k7t266 Pro2-RU, would I HAVE to use raid or would just a single ide hard drive be OK?
I would get the k7t266 Pro2 but I'd like to have usb 2.0 for some odd reason.
Also, what is "Integrated Faster Ethernet LPC. (Optional CNR card support)"??? Is this onboard network card?

nope, you don't need to use RAID..but it's there if you want it in the future.

my guess would be that it DOES have an integrated NIC
