Motherboard Raid Controller Question??

I had a Epox motherboard with a highpoint raid controller and raid 0 set up...This motherboard recently self destructed and I bought a MSI ultra2 with a promise raid controller..Will the promise controller recognize the raid 0 set created by the highpoint controller...I have valuable data on it that I can not loose???

The odds aren't too bad when dealing with the same controller but not only is it a different model but also a different brand. Something else to through your way: what OS? XP will require the drivers to be already installed before it will even see the raid array.

Always, Always, Always keep backups either on another system or on something removeable. (just a friendly reminder)

(Its also one of the downsides to raid 0 is you have 50% greater chance of a serious failure and very little recourse for data recovery.)

You might want to consider getting another Epox board like your old one for the express purpose of trying to get the raid back so you can back up your files to move to the new board and then you can sell the Epox board. Costly but is a possibility.
