Motherboard questions

I am looking to slightly upgrade my computer (an intermediary between what I have and HAMMER), but I need a few questions answered first. I currently have an Intel 440BX motherboard, and the power supply that Dell shipped with it.

1) Will the connections on my power supply match those on the ECS K7S5A? It's based on the SiS 735 chipset.

2) Does anyone know if they're compatible with Athlon XPs?

3) Can I clock the RAM asynchronously from the FSB? I would like to just use my current PC100 SDRAM for now, rather than buying PC133 (considering that I'll be buying EVERYTHING new in 4 or 5 months).

4) Does anyone know the differences between the K7S5A V1.x, K7S5A V2.x, and K7S5A2?

1) DELL uses non-standard power supplies and will not be compatible with the ECS K7S5A.

2) The existing 440BX board is not compatible with an Athlon XP. The ECS K7S5A is compatible.

3) The existing 440BX board does not allow asynchronous RAM timings. The ECS board does.

Thanks for the quick answer, and I appologize for my awkward wording. I know that the 440BX won't support the processor or the RAM timings. What I meant to say was, are the different versions of the ECS board necessary in order to support the Athlon XP? Also, Dell doesn't use the standard ATX connectors? That sucks. Does anyone know if there are adapters that can be purchased to maek the Dell PS work with a standard mobo?

Your Dell PSU (likely 200W or less) will not be up to spec for an AMD XP. Probably a new ATX PSU will (or can be made to <g> ) fit in your Dell case and they aren't too expensive. Look for AOpen, Enlight, Sparkle, or Enermax brands of PSUs at 300W or so.
