Good motherboard? It's pretty good. Best? Depends what you're looking for and what your needs are. Soyo has always been one of the top MB makers, IMO. Their Dragon series provide a whole butt load of features and toys that are pretty nice, but can also be excessive if you don't need them.

As for Pentium vs. AMD.....yeah, I won't say anything.

Yes, it's a pretty good feature rich motherboard. As far as AMD vs. Intel, I'm not even going to light the match for that war

Intel or AMD ? Right now it depends more on your budget, and whether you want to overclock or not. The new AMD CPU's o/c much better than the old ones, but I think Intel still o/c's better. In the price category, AMD still owns the bottom and middle IMO, but Intel holds the top spot now. It also depends on what you are running for Software. AMD is better at games and CAD/scientific, where Intel is better at Video and sound editing. You need to consider all of these before you decide.

Totally agree with ya on that one. Built many VIA system, with quality components mind you, and they all have some minor mysterious problem(freeze intermittenly, reboot for no reason, ......) The last two Intel 845PE I have built gave me no problem whatsoever so far. It used to be that high end AMD is much, much cheaper that Intel's. Now, the difference is not that great, and I'm willing to pay that for more stability. Totally personal opinion of course.
