motherboard question

A few weeks ago my teacher said that the clock speed on the AMD board is not actually as fast as the clock speed on the Intel board. Anybody have any input?

You meant the CPU right? Technically if the board had a clockspeed, AMD would be winning.

CPU wise, Intel wins the speed race, they also win the heating race. They've got higher clocks, but AMD is more effective per clock.
Thus, a lower clocked AMD CPU will trumph an Intel CPU a fair ways higher than it.
If you were to compare a similarily clocked AMD and Intel CPU, AMD would win by a long shot.
Notice that Intel's highest clocked CPUs are at 3800MHz to AMD's 2600MHz. Long, long ways away.
But AMD's nice FX55 @ 2600MHz crushes Intel's 570 (3800MHz) in gaming and a fair bit of multimedia applications, though Intel is regaining a little of their power.
