motherboard problems

I bought a Biostar M7NCG400 recently from a member on here, and I plugged in my Radeon 9800 pro (which has never had any previous problems) and now I'm not getting a signal? I had a quick one, it popped up for like 2 seconds and just shut off. Everything else is powering up fine besides my PCI card (belkin wireless) the lights aren't coming on that.

It's a brand new power supply (coolermaster 430w) so I really doubt it should have an issue pushing an amd xp 3000 with a radeon 9800 pro video card, one hard drive, 1 dvd writer, 2 fans.

The fan on the video card is coming on

any possible ideas? I'm dying for this computer back... this one is making me go insane

Do you have a PCI video card you just pop in there to verify? If not, another AGP card?

Just a heads up, not that this is your problem...but....a LOT of nForce2 mobos on the market used bad capacitors. I've seen quite a few of them all from different manufacturers. Take a real close look at all the caps on that board and look for leaking and even the slightest bulging.

Well, I have no idea your level of PC knowledge so forgive me if this seems simple but-

Assuming you installed it in your case, are sure you're not getting a short?

Did you use the standoffs? If so, are you sure you there aren't any "extra ones" or one that is mis-aligned thus causing a short?

Got another PSU to try? In my experience, just cuz a part is brand new doesn't mean it functions properely.

While you're loking for leaking caps, check to make sure no jumpers.CMOS battery came loose in shipping.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS yet?

Just throwing out some standard trouble-shooting ideas..

Good Luck with it,

Fern
