Motherboard Problem?

The problem I am having is this: When I use my onboard Lan (which is intel pro1000 Gigabit ethernet using the new CSA architecture), my computer Freezes up at some point. However, it ALWAYS freezes up whenever I go to Windows Update site and perform a Scan to see what Updates I need. I always get to 66% done when it freezes up. Always! What is funny is that I installed my old Linksys network card and the computer has no problems whatsoever! I've been using my old card until I can figure out why it only freezes up when I use the onboard LAN. So, The question(s) i have would be if 1) Anyone have any ideas what is going on? and 2) How to fix it? and 3) Anybody else having the same problems with the CSA architecture (or is it just the motherboard?). Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Go to the device manager, double click on the on-board NIC, and select the "Power Management" tab. Uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option, and reboot. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Go see if Intel has updated drivers on their site. Or possibly a firmware update to the bios might stablize the chip?
