I have a problem with my computer, which has worked with the same motherboard and power supply for almost a year and a half.
About 4 months ago I was having random freezes ranging from 2 minutes to about 5 mins after turning on the computer. It happens anywhere,
even in the bios, in dos, when scanning on the hard disk, or just in the OS. I concluded that I needed to replace my CPU, because I didn't install
it correctly when i first built the computer. I did fix it after knowing that it wasn't bracketed correctly.
With the new CPU, the computer ran just fine until yesterday when the same problem showed up. Heat isn't an issue on the CPU
as it runs at 34 degrees C at max. Here are my current specs:
MSI K7T PRO2 Motherboard. Via KT133 chipset
AMD Duron 1ghz
230w Enlight Power Supply. It has worked fine for 3 years, but why would it be a problem even if it has been with my motherboard and CPU for a year and a half?
2 256MB CAS2 PC133 SDRAM chips
The rest of the detials aren't necessary as I have removed all of these to the bare bones and the problem still exists.
Heat isn't an issue as it is cold where I live. I have had my computer on without the case so there isn't anything inside the case.
It seems like the motherboard that might be the problem, but the power supply could be a problem. I have switched it with another 230w
power supply and this problem still wasn't resolved. Anyone with expertice in any of these problems care to help me out?
