Hello all,

I notice that most new MBs now have a 24 pin power connector. Can I used my slightly older PS (with a 20 pin connector and a 4 pin connector) or do I need a new one?

Do I use this connector?

Do I use the 4 pin connector as well or just the 20 pin?

Thanks.

The square 4-pin AUX 12v connector needs to be used for the cpu. That leaves you with using the straight 20-pin ATX connector. I'd consider investing in a new psu that suits your needs better. How many amp is the 12v rail rated at on your old unit?

FastEddie.

My current PS has a 12A, 12V rail. I would just buy a new one except that I put some good money into this one when I bought it. It is an Enermax.

I'm not sure I follow your statement. Do the new MB have the 4 prong CPU power plug as well? I have looked at the pictures of a few at Newegg and not seen the connector.

I am currently using both the 4 pin and the 20 pin MB power connectors on my existing MB. I am looking at buying a new board and want to know if a 24-pin to 20pin connector works. In other words, can I continue to use my PS for the newer boards?

Thanks.

12a on the 12v rail isn't enough to power any of the A64 boards, let alone an NF4 one. You will be needing a new psu.
