I have just purchased a Gigabyte 8IPE775-Pro motherboard.

As I am confused about what the manual is saying could someone please put me on the right track.

The motherboard has 2 power connectors-24pin & 12V 4pin.

My question is if I am using a PSU with a 24pin connector do I still need to connect the 12V 4pin connector or is the 4pin connector only used in conjunction with a 20pin PSU connector.

Thank You.

The 24 pin connector does combine the 20 pin and 4 pin. But mobo manufacturers can do what they want. So that extra 4 pin connector may be necessary. Check on the gigabyte forums if they have them

the 12V 4pin connector is necessary, No matter what power supply.
24 pin connector can fit your standard 20 pin main power as well. The extra 4 pins on the 24pin connector are for ground and the 3.3v iirc
