Here's the situation. I had my computer off tonight cause of a storm. Turned it back on, before the POST completed the hard drives would spin down and the computer would try to reset... it would keep doing that over and over. So I reset the CMOS with the jumper and it booted fine, so I started setting things back to how they were in the BIOS, and as soon as I set the FSB to 200, I had this problem again. I have one SATA drive and one ATA100 drive... I tried them independantly and the same thing happens, so I don't think it's a hard drive problem. Right now I'm running 133x12.5 (1666 MHz) and everything is working ok. CPU is running Prime 95 at 45 degrees C (diode... 39 C socket). I was about to try 166 MHz FSB, but I figured I'd ask on here and see if anyone has had a similar problem and how they resolved it.
The only other possibilities would be the CPU (Mobile XP2500) and PSU (Antec TruePower 430... about 2 or 3 months old)... I tend to think motherboard though since changing the FSB fixes the problem. Damn... I JUST replaced the video card now I may have to replace the motherboard. :|
*EDIT* One thing I just noticed... the +5V rail is at about 4.6V just sitting there... and drops down as low as 4.44V while running Prime 95. I wonder if this could be causing the problem?
**EDIT** I think I figured out the problem myself... I just set the bus to 166 MHz so now I'm at 2.08 GHz on 1.65 volts... just started up Prime 95 again and the +5V rail dropped to 4.38. That's definately out of spec.
