Motherboard overheats

I recently put a new computer together and it was running fine (CPU=34 M/B=38). I realized I forgot to install a few pegs under the motherboard so I did that and started my computer back up and my motherboard began to run at 48 but my cpu stayed about the same. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks for your help.
