Motherboard or Processor fried?

I have a PC desktop that will not turn on at all. I thought it was potentially the power supply since there was no whirring from the PC, so I replaced that. Still nothing.

A green LED light does come on in the motherboard, but nothing else happens. Any suggestions on how to figure out the issue?

Same thing recently happened to my computer. Remove the ram, all the pci-cards, and processor. If you get no post codes (audio or blinking from that or another light), it is the motherboard.

if the PC is not turning on its likely a short somewhere or the motherboard is dead. Even if the CPU is fried the PC should still turn on. Just won't post. If all else fails take everything out of the case and try it.

Could be lots of things, and as simple as a bad connection to the on/off switch.

Easier to troubleshoot if stripped down to the minimum since one bad part could prevent the system from starting. I assemble new builds on a piece of cardboard on a table, and build them up piece by piece.

Reset the cmos memory. If that doesn't help then try to fire it up with only a power supply, maybe a keyboard, cpu and fan, 1 stick of memory, and a video card (unplug the rest of the stuff). Momentarily short the power-on switch headers on the motherboard with something like a screwdriver. See if that gets you anywhere. Try another video card, or memory stick, or keyboard, or power supply if need be. If it is still dead you are left with a bad cpu chip, or more likely a bad motherboard. Sometimes you will get some beeps from the board if a part is bad (and your system has a speaker).
