Motherboard only works with a single stick of 1GB RAM....BIOS setting, or RMA?

Just bought a booster g41 board that I can't seem to get to post when both slots are populated. I have roughly half a dozen different sticks I've tried, and all the 1Gb ones work in the single slot. The 2Gb ones won't post, but work fine on other systems.

This is my home server and I'd really like to avoid an RMA since everything is already installed and I don't want to take it down for weeks while I wait for a replacement. Is it possible there's some BIOS setting that I'm missing that can cause this kind of behavior?

Check the qvl for your mb. Set timings manually for ram in bios. Update bios.

What is qvl?

I'm tried manual timings, speed and also going by SPD. Tried upping voltage. And updating bios.

Even if I put the single stick that works in slot A into slot B, it won't POST.

I think I'm just going to have to RMA the damn thing.

A QVL is the qualified vendor list. Each MB has one for ram that has been tested to work with a specific MB.

It also sounds like you need to check the manual for your MB to determine the correct slot for a particular configuration (either one stick or two).

yeah, in P67 Z68 Its:

A2 slot -1 stick
A2 B2 slots - 2 sticks (same color)
A1 A2 B1 B2 slots - 4 sticks
dunno about G41
make sure all sticks FULLY down
could also try a full cmos reset with bat out and PSU unplugged

I haven't tried a Booster G-41 motherboard, but G-41 motherboards from Biostar and Gigabyte worked normally with single and double sided 2GB sticks, whether 1 or 2 were installed.

Were any of your half dozen memory sticks high quality, like Samsung, without gawdy heatsinks or names resembling B-movie titles?
