I can't figure out what it is...I added a couple of hard drives to my machine. Made sure they were recognized. Turned it off, now when I turn it back on it doesn't boot but the motherboard just has one long beep that stays on until I shut it off. I've heard that one beep means something is loose? My HD's aren't loose. Help! It's a loud high pitched continuous tone.

Well that was scary. I still don't know what caused the problem but all of a sudden it is works. I wonder if there was a temporary short somewhere? Or maybe something was loose and I just happened to tighten it? Seems to be ok now so I'm not going to mess with it anymore

Well if it happens again.I would look around for loose wires.make sure there is no dust inside the plugs.and be careful for statique.

Your motherboard manual should tell you what each beeping sequence is. You should still look up the sequence to give you an idea of what the problem may have been.

How many times did the event occur, and did you reset the cmos after installing the additional hard drives? That may have been all it needed.
