Hi guys, I recently installed a 1.2Ghz PIII Tualatin Core , that I found on ebay. I have a i810E chipset motherboard. However after installing, I look in the BIOS and it recognizes as only a 900Mhz PIII with 100 FSB?! Then when I go to windows and use everest and CPU-Z it says the same thing, except for CPU-Z and everest it says that the original clock speed is 1200Mhz, but now its 900Mhz. So im short 300Mhz..so how do I get my computer to run at 1.2Ghz?

Try upping the FSB in the bios to 133mhz. Right now its running at 100*9=900mhz, so upping the FSB to 133 gives you 133*9=1197mhz (1.2ghz).

See if you can find a newer bios to flash to. If you can't, then your computer probably can't support the 133mhz FSB, so you will either have to upgrade the mobo to one that can, or just run the chip at 900mhz and be happy with that, because i believe the P3's had a locked multi, so there is no other way to change the speed of the proc..

It's a 133mhz FSB cpu, the only way you will get it to run at it's rated speed, is to run the FSB at 133..

Since it's a Compaq board and you probably won't be able to select the correct PLL by the name of the board. You'll have to search around on the mobo and identify the correct PLL . You will then have to select the proper PLL in one of the above programs and give it a try. I've done this successfully on Compaq boards before, just not an 810e chipset. I assume you have got to be using an adapter or you have an 815e??. Sometimes the adapter have a 133 jumper.
