Hello all,

When I got at the lab this morning my computer had the power led blicking and it didn't respond in any way...
I tried pressing the power button to turn it off/on but nothing happened... I took the power cord off, and connect
it back. And now I have the dim light saying that the motherboard has power but when press the power button
nothing happens!!

It was on all weekend it last time I accessed it from home it was working fine.

Any ideas? I'm betting it's the motherboard but I could be wrong!

Usualy when computers shut off it's due to a hard drive failure. The fact that the LED on the motherboard lights up tells me that some part in the computer died, but not the motherboard itself(this has always been the case for me when dealing with a situation such as yours). The only thing you can do is trouble shoot each part one at a time. It can be mem, video card, or even sound or nic card. So take out all the PCI card's and try starting with mem, video card alone. Also, unplug your hard drive and try starting. This should get you on the right path to figuring out whats wrong.

Well no power at all....
Nothing powers up! I will know that the MB is powered
because a dim light is on!
Tried a different PS and same thing!

In case you still have a memory stick in the slot than your problem is in memory or video card. Try resitting them. Check the contact group to the monitor. Also try to substitute your memory and video card one by one to narrow the problem.

In case you do not have a memory stick in the slot than it is the way it is suppose to be. You will not have any video without memory stick in.

Voktak, I think you missunderstood me...

The only parts left from the original problem are the mainboard and the processor....

I'm using a new PS and a PCI video card.... nothing else is attached.....

I did understand you.
All I was trying to tell ya that in case you have mobo, CPU and videocard than you will not be able to see anything on the screen. You need to have memory stick in the slot.
