HI.

Ive been having slight problems with games crashing to desktop

heres my setup

p4 1.6ghz @ 2.1GHZ (yes i know this can be the problem)
512mb of corsair pc 2700 memory
P4B266-C
VIsiontek Geforce 4 ti 4600
Antec 400watt powersupply (pp403x ib elieve it is. NOT P4 approved) but my motherboard has a place to plug a regular hard drive type plug into the motherboard. So i have tha tplugged in

when i go into my bios and look at the voltages there everything seems ok (12v is at 11.6 but thats within spec)

But i decided to download motherboard monitor. It tells me my 12V is 11.19. now thats out of spec. It shouldnt be that low.

but i dont know if i should trust it or my bios???

would getting a 350WATT p4 approved Antec powersupply from best buy be a good idea ?

Any other options i should do?

I'd look at getting either the Antec PP412X 400 watt PSU, or an Enermax 431 watt PSU. They are both P4 ready and have the extra plug (4-pin) that you need to plug into your mobo for the extra voltage the P4 CPU requires. This should solve your problems.

I'd definitely get a p4 psu, since stability is an issue without one. My 12V is actually higher then it is supposed to be.

MBM consistantly reads the 12v line too low (on P4B266's at least). Search around in the forums and you'll run across multiple posts regarding this issues. MBM works good for the temps ( using sensor Asus 1 for MoBo temp and Asus 2 for CPU temp) but not so good for voltage. If you want to see your voltage, either look at it in the BIOS or run the Asus Probe (but don't run MBM at the same time). Asus Probe gives accurate voltage readings so you can check your voltage under load.
