OK, I've got a double header question to throw out here. One is about a new Shuttle AK31. It doesn't boot. There's a Phoenix bios sticker on the flash ROM chip. A beep error sounds, and it's one long, 2 short beeps. A single stick of Kingston 256mb DDR SDRAM is in the first bank, and two video cards were tested in it: an Intel 740 and a Kyro II. The same error happens regardless of the video card, and there's no extra ram to swap and test, unfortunately.
Does anyone know what the error code means?
Second is about an AOpen AX59Pro. It's got a K6-3 450 in it and it usually works great. However, sometimes it won't start up properly, which makes me suspect it's a power supply or voltage problem. The only thing is, I don't know how I'd fix it. Sometimes it'll power up but no beep or display will come up. Other times it'll give long, continuous beeps. Invariably, let it "cool off" for a minute or so and it'll boot properly.
Anyway, I hope some seasoned experts out there might be able to shed some light on these two puzzling pieces of hardware.
Thanks!
Rich
