I am in the process of building a new system with an AMD XP2100 processor, a motherboard(Undecided) that supports DDR 2100,2700 ram. There is a big price difference between DDR 2100 & the 2700. Is the 2700 rams performance that much better? I dought that I will be o/c But I do play alot of games.
What do you think?
Thanx

the athlon xp bandwidth maxes out at the 133 bus which is 2.1 gbs, which ddr 2100 can deliver. DDR 2700 delivers 3.2 gbs, so basically its worthless unless if you decide to overclock, which an athlon xp 2100 can barely do. But it would be good to have in the future, your choice, your budget.

ifyou dont plan to overclock pc2100 is the way to go
only reason to buy pc2700 or higher is to either overclock or use a xp2600+ or higher with 333fsb or if you are looking towards the future

cpu/ram running asynchronously will give you some added performance i think, but whether the ends justify the means is your call

For your system the PC2100 will perform about the same as the PC2700 so if there is a big price difference get the PC2700

DDR 2700 is 2.7GBs :). DDR 3200 is GBs
