Motherboard & Memory question

Ok I am running an ASUS M2N-E I was running it with an AM2 3800+ switched over to an X2 4600+ today and no problems. In comes the new memory a few hours after the cpu delivery, so I take out the Corsair XMS 2x512 and install Crucial Ballistix BL2KIT12864AA804 which crucial has told me is ASUS certified and I get the dreaded 3 beeps.

So the memory is not loving the ASUS sockets and it is very difficult to get the levers to click in, they won't click I have to use my finger and push the lever into place. The three beeps again, ok so I take out the Crucial and install the Corsair, three beeps. Ok what a pain in the ass, I turn the P/S off and reboot and it works fine.

What am I doing wrong, or what is the problem, corsair said they would swap the chips no problem and that sometimes different chips and batches can be mm off. Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated, I would like to see this new memory perform damnit 🙂. Jay.

Well it turns out at least one of the sockets is bad, I am running 1 stick of the new memory in the bottom row. Only one stick will work to the RMA pile this will go. Jay.
