Motherboard boot problem - Anandtech

Hi,
I have a 3 year old computer which was running fine until a few days ago when I hooked up the newly bought external hard disk to its front USB port in order to transfer nearly 400 GB of data from the internal one. The next day I noticed that my computer, instead of going strait to the Windows, is booting up to the American Megatrend page where I am greeted with this instruction at the botom of the page - "When RAID configuration was built, ensure to set SATA configuration to RAID mode", and I also noticed that after I pushed the power button, the power is going off for a few seconds and then returns. Ultimately the QR code on the Asus M/B shows A-2 (IDE Detect). It is happening every time I am booting up my computer. And whenever that is happening the date and time clock is always running behind and showing time and date when I last left off. The funny thing is that if I switch on the computer after a gap of one or two minutes, it is booting up fine and restart is always fine. If I boot it up after a longish gap of say 20-30 minutes, this brief power outage is taking place.
Every time I have to enter the BIOS page and exit in order to reach the start page. This is going on for quite a few days and I am in a fix as how to solve this issue. I have tried cleaning the cmos battery with a cloth according to the advice of a gentleman, but that did not work. Since we are in a complete lock down, I can't even buy a new battery . Now my motherboard is out of warranty period. This particular motherboard malfunctioned before and I had to replace it when it was under warranty. The current board is barely one year old and I am not expecting any hardware failure.
Could you suggest any trick that would resolve this problem? Here is the configuration of my system:
CPU Intel i7 6600k
Motherboard Asus Maximus Rangers VIII
GPU MSI Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB
RAM Corsair Vengence 16GB 3000MHz
SSD Samsung Evo 860 250GB (for C: drive exclusive)
HDD WD blue 2TB
PSU Corsair 750Wt
Cooler Master AlO liquid cooler with single fan radiator installed.
I know this forum is full of Knowledgable people. I urge them to come forward and help me in this difficult time.

Your Windows install has a KMS activator (not legit) they are considered a virus but usually they don't harm anything. But some do. Anyway your problem sounds like a failing CMOS battery do you have a volt meter?
Thanks for the reply. as soon as the lockdown gets lifted, I will get a new battery. Do you know any hack to get around KMS?

Yes, before you do anything else to the system, you need to replace the CMOS battery. It isn't really possible to do any type of meaningful troubleshooting related to the boot issue until you do, as it is very likely the battery is the cause. That error message is basically telling you that the system has lost its BIOS settings, which normally happens when the CMOS backup battery goes dead, and now it literally doesn't know how it is supposed to boot.

As far as the Windows activation crack tool is concerned, you are on your own there. Try to address that here (or anything else even remotely related to software piracy) and the mods will lock your thread so fast you'll get whiplash.

Thank you friend. I am relieved by all the answers indicating towards CMOS battery. I will get it. I just want to know from you that if I continue to use the computer until I manage to lay my hands upon a new battery, will it be harmful for the health of the system?

regarding KMS, I also share your concern. but I am quite perplexed as to where this KMS thing is coming from. I was using kms activated Windows, but I bought a genuine pro version one year ago. Might that be a ghost of kms from the past? Do you know no any way, or any command to exorcise this ghost?
