I just put together my own custom system.

Here are the specifications

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 478 Socket Northwood Processor
Motherboard: Asus P4S533 SiS 645DX P4 (533FSB) Skt478 DDR333 ATX Motherboard w/Audio, LAN Retail
Hard Drive: Seagate 80gb 7200rpm ATA/100 HD
RAM: Samsung 512mb DDR Ram DDR333mhz PC2700
Video Card: GeForce4 Ti4200 AGP Card

I turn the pc on, all the lights, fans, and drives light up, but then thats it. The monitor doesnt display anything. It says monitor is working properly, please check connections. I figured it might have been the Gf4 AGP Card so I took it out and installed my PCI one that works, still the same problem. If anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated.

The "clear cmos" and "jumper mode" jumpers are right next to each other, so be sure they are set correctly. I wish I could help you more, but my refurb board didn't come with anything, not even the p4 heatsink bracket or manual. I had to borrow that from a spare board. Read the manual carefully and check jumper settings. If that doesn't work, take the board out and start over. Be sure none of your cables is installed backwards. It's an easy mistake to make.

The best way to troubleshoot this is to go barebones. Strip it all down until you have just the essentials required to see POST (meaning.. no hard drives, CD-ROM drives, mouse, keyboard, scanner, camera, home audio system, etc. heh heh).

Another thing to watch out for is if the motherboard is grounding out on the support screws of the case.

What kind of power supply are you running? It needs to provide adequate amperage or else it won't have the juice to start your computer.
