So, my Gigabyte DS3 mobo is going out and looks like I need a replacement.
Currently running a Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz with 4gigs of DDR2-800 memory.

At this time, just going to replace the board with the idea in mind to upgrade to a faster CPU say 4-10 months down the road.

With that in mind and now that DDR3 looks like it is going to be cheaper than DDR2 here, anyone have recommendations and suggestions for a board?

Should I stick with DDR2 for now, or should I go with DDR3 now and just buy memory? There are probably options to support both memory types, but not sure what is the benefit of that.

For the mobo, I dont need intergrated video; just standard reliable board.

Will not OC the proc.

how about this for a replacement board:

Granted, its only DDR2, but thats ok, I guess.
Does DDR3 make THAT much of a difference?

Suggestions?

not sure which way to go on this:

Stick with ddr2 until you upgrade to i5 or i7. I used 2 asrock boards that have both ddr2 and ddr3 slots. They both worked fine, but did not overclock as well as the gigabyte board. I had so many boards that I sold the asrock g43 board for only $37 shipped. The new owner was very happy with this board.
