Those paper washers you often get with your case, should I put them on top of the MB or underneath, between the MB and the standup screws? Or it should be between the standup screws and the case? I'm not sure what purpose are they for but I think they're supposed to stop the mobo from expanding when get hot.

I would think they are best between the Bottom Side of the Mobo and the Standoff
They act as additional insulation to prevent shorts ... I personally, however, would
get some Nylon Washers at the local Radio Shack or electronics place .. these are
more substantial about 1/32" thick & will defiinetly insulate the mobo from the standoff

The round brown/red paper eyelets are not of any use anymore. You do not have to use the eyelets although used to be it is placed between the brass standoffs and under the mobo mounting holes. But with modern mobos, paper eyelets are not required anymore.

I'm sure if a DDM is used all mainboard mounting eyelets will found to be part of the board's ground plane.
Because the board is filled with copper traces, it is subject to thermal cycling. It expands and contracts. The red/brown washes are to be used under the screw heads to prevent over tightening and permit the board to work.
True, this is a detail and more important to consider when the case uses brass stand-offs.
Cases that use clip-in stand-offs (Lian Li) can do without these washers. I use them on brass or clip-in stand-offs.

Hi, Those "Little red washers" were real important in the old days before MB designers realized that there was a danger of shorting to the metal standoffs. Modern MBs all have large grounded pads around the mounting holes. I haven't used the washers in many years. Jim
