About to install my motherboard into my case and I'm just making sure I do this right. I'm using mostly the brass stand-offs which screw into the case and then you use screws to screw into the brass standoffs to secure the MB. I'm using the shorter standoffs, 1/4" high. I'm also going to use a few of the plastic things, but not too many as its best to have the MB secured down completely since your installing and un-installing connectors and cards etc. The plastic standoffs screw into the case and the motherboard hole goes over the top and is semi-secured down by a plastic nib. I'm going to use as few of those as possible. Probably only 3 or 4. Maybe only 2? None? I think the plastic standoff nibs are simply there for ease of lining up the motherboard?
1) Should I use a combination of brass standoffs and the plastic things or as few plastic ones as possible? None at all?
2) How do I use the material washers? Do I use them in between the brass standoffs and the MB or on the silver screws between the MB and the screw heads? I've put MB's into the cases before but I was wondering about what the officially accepted thing to do was. There is the issue of possible grounding or not grounding of the motherboard via any exposed metal on the MB and the brass standoffs connected to the metal of the case.
So whats the best route to go.
thanx
