I am putting together my own system for the first time, my case is a wood case with sheet metal lining for RF protection. I am now about to mount the motherboard onto the case but I heard some where back that if you don't ground your motherboard or put a rubber washer between the motherboard and the case it could destroy it. I have regular HomeDepot screws and no rubber washer, can I go ahead. Motherboard is a MSI Pro2a and Duron 700, thanks.

Before you put that board in do you have stand-offs on that sheet metal? You don't want the bottom of the board touching that sheet metal, just the holes that the screws go through are designed to come in contact with chasis ground. The sheet metal should be tied to earth ground or it will be pretty much useless as chasis ground and an RF shield. Wood case, that's different.

Yes, I am using standoffs. I also added a small nut head between the board and the standoff to gain more clearance, I don't think its touching any pins though.
