MotherBoard install problem, need a little help!

Trying to install a Biostar M7NCD AMD board. The problem is it acts like it's completely dead when mounted in the case. Take it out lay on the table and plug everything in and it fires right up. Is it a grounding problem, board shorting against the case? Any ideas............

You might try mounting the motherboard with just one screw, and the backplate off (if possible). I had an ecs board recently that was mis-aligned with the case standoffs, and it took awhile to get it to post. Same for the video card. Try leaving it loose in the slot. Sometimes when you tighten the holding screw, some cards may pop up slightly in the agp slot, causing bad contact.

I'll give anything a try, I'm sure it's a contact problem but finding it is a pain

One of the things to do is count the number of standoffs that you put in the case and compare that with the number of screws that you use, if the numbers are not the same you have a problem.

I had a MB that looked as if it would short to the case at one of the mounting points. I put a piece of masking tape on the case - right over the screw hole - and it's been fine for over two years. This particular case had wide, stamped mounting dealies with a threaded hole in the middle. Not a good design, but the masking tape worked.
