Motherboard IDE1 Channel is fvked! Controller Card Quesion too.

Should i buy a ide card or EIDE card. Im thinking of buying this card and just disabling the onboard controller. \\

Before you go out and spend money are you sure it's not the drive. 99% of the time you see that error there is a problem with the hard drive? Or did you try changing the cable too? A bad cable can cause this too.

I changed cables about 5 times, formated. What else can it be? Just to test you out im going to switch back to Ide 1 and see if thoses events come back. BRb

Im back and heres the results!! And vtw fu*king 22 xp bars at loading and tell me thats a problem lol. The drive is fine.
[edit: Time=jacked b/c of bios cleared] So do you think its ide? I have no overclocks and nothing that can affect this. The board is a refreb but its life is strong and its a asus a7v8x mobo.

sset bios to boot from scsi. i have a silicon image, it works fine. tell us how much the shipping is, imight want to get another i got mine from ebay. initial prices are nice, but shipping is bad.

sorry. When i switched back to ide1 i get the errors back and slow booting. (it took the xp bar 22 to go by than into windows xp desktop) On IDE2 my system is fine and no erros. Hope this cleared everything up.

I think that's about as cheap as your going to get. Personally if I'm going to buy a new IDE controller card I would spend the money and get a newer Promise or a Highpoint. Do yourself a favor and get one that is ATA/100 at least.
