My motherboard is a Biostar TA790GX. It has 2 PCI-E slots. I want to install one video card (and not use crossfire). Can I install the video card into either slot?

I'm asking because the primary PCI-E slot is right next to the PCI slots (which I need) so I cant get a dual slot video card. I'd much prefer using the secondary PCI-E slot which is above the primary PCI-E slot so I have the flexibility of getting a 2-slot video card.

Biostar customer service is unavailable due to the Chinese New Year, and the manual isn't much help. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: Based on reviews I've read, it seems like I should be able to use either slot, but the "slave" is limited to 8x and the "master" can go to 16x.

What's the performance difference between 8x pci-e and 16x pci-e for a card like a Radeon 4670?

I'm pretty sure the orange is the primary. It says "master" next to the orange, and "slave" next to the green.

Wow, guess I should buy a new 790 board and P2x4 ( or zoom the photo in...LoL) .. I don't think the 4670 will suffer at all in the 8x slot...

I wish they would standardize the slot nomenclature , look at the gigabyte 790 board the orange slot is 8x...

OK looking at the specs for the Biostar TA790GX it has 2 xPCI-E x16 slots and they go to x8 slots when xfired...
