Motherboard/hard drive prob?

Hello

I have recently installed a western digital 30Gb 7200rpm because the old fujitsu 6Gb was too small.

I have had some problems with the new drive I have installed the new one and put win2000 pro with now problems, but when the machine boots up it takes a while to detect the hd, and some times if just does not detect it at all, but when I enter the BIOS and try to auto detect it there is does so with no problems. I have changed the cable, which is fine, the jumpers are set correctly, the hard drive works in another machine, and the old 6Gb drive still works fine with the ECS K7S5A. So any thoughts would be helpful.

ECS K7S5A v3.0 (i think)
AMD Athlon 800Mhz
256Mb PC133
Western Digital 30Gb
DVD ROM
CDRW

Are you sure the HD is jumpered correctly?
Is it the only drive on the channel?

As an experiment: remove all jumpers from the WD drive and connect it alone on the primary channel.
When you boot, it should immediately ID the drive.
