Motherboard/graphics card comparability

Hello everyone! I just have a quick question about the graphics card and motherboard I am getting for my build. The graphics card is the MSI AMD Radeon R9 270. The motherboard I have is the Asrock 970 Extreme4 AM3+ socket. The graphics card is PCIe 3.0 and the motherboard is PCIe 2.0. Would I put the graphics card in the PCIe 2.0 slot or one of the regular PCIe slots? Thanks!!
