Motherboard fried...time for new gaming rig! :)

Hellooo everyone! This is my first time posting here and I need to get some ideas from everyone. Here's the deal: My Asus a7n8x Deluxe v1 mobo fried last week so Im having to look into new rig (a good thing) 🙂 Since Ive been out of the loop (and relatively new to making my own pc) Ive been spending the last week in trying to catch up on whats available out there now.

Here's what Ive come up with so far for my new rig:
1) Rosewill TU 155 case with 420w power supply
2) Soltex SL-K8AN2E-GR ATX mobo
3) AMD Athlon 64 3000+
4) Corsair XMS 1gig pc 3200 cas2 (will be getting second stick in near future)
5) vid card (unknown as of now)

How does this system look for running Guild Wars, WoW, and EQ2 (of course not all at same time lol 🙂 )with ventrilo running in background?

I understand that there's the s939 boards out now that use the pci-e cards but frankly Im on quite a low budget. Also Ive never OC'd a rig but am looking into learning how, so I can get the most out of a system 🙂

Thanks in advance to any and all replies!!

i dunno, the 80gb is up to you. if its just an os, apps and games you wouldn't need more. you can get storage later if you want.

i also don't know about the psu. i've heard different things. my understanding is they typically have some really solid specs but i'm not sure who actually makes them. i bet you could do worse though 😛 maybe worth looking around though.

as you don't say what your budget really is, its tough to say. but if you're buying a mobo i don't see any reason to consider an agp version unless maybe you have a killer vga already an are unwilling to sell it. otherwise i think its a bad decision not getting a pci-e.

and make sure you get a venice core.

K first off.. That is very expensive ram, and not worth paying extra for. Also seems you want 2gb, which is fair enough for mmorpgs i suppose, but meh 1gb would be enough at present really. This is $40 cheaper than the XMS and performance different neglible
and instead of that ugly + unreliable psu'd rosewill combo, get this antec with a better quality PSU (yes its lower wattage, but it is better).
If staying with agp, then get this card in my opinion - 6600gt

now if you do decide to go 939,it is slightly more expensive, but you would definately get a higher overclock (754 chips tend to top out around 2.4ghz, while the new venice 939 top out around 2.7/2.8 on air, and also 939 more upgradeable later on in theory) i would suggest this, for the cpu this, and this

Thanks everyone!

Rise, I dont have anything that good yet lol..so maybe I'll look into the socket 939 a lil more, any suggestions on good solid mobo's? (keep in mind I dont have any OC experience) most of my time has been spent looking socket754.
As far as budget goes, its somethin I gotta pass by my wife in most occasions and its a constant battle so I dont have a specific number to give; this is gonna be a project that will encompass a couple more months of time in getting components. /sigh

Azzy, unfortunately I didnt find out about my fried motherboard until I'd already ordered the case and psu AND an AMD 3000+ 🙁 I happened on it when deciding to check out all my connections and make sure they were seated properly. Finding 7 or so of the pins on the 20pin power>mobo connection was a shocker. And I'll definitely look into those other options! Its just that my head is swimming with all these new numbers so recommendations/links are great!

Thanks again! I'll be checking back
