I searched this forum and found someone else who couldn't post in the motherboard forum. The answer for that person was to add a line to the HOSTS file in /i386:
127.0.0.1 dynamic.anandtech.com

I did that but I still can post anything in the Motherboard forum. I can post in all the other forums I tried. I disabled NIS, but that didn't help either. The same thing happens on my work computer.
Win XP Sp2
IE6
NIS 2005

Any suggestions?

Edit: I noticed that it was also a Gigabyte ad problem. Whenever there's a Gigabyte ad I can't even post in this forum. I couldn't even edit this message without refreshing until a different ad came up.

The HOSTS file in /i386 is not the right file. That's the original copy of the file used for installing/reinstalling Windows, just like on the CD. The file you want is in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc.

Keep in mind of course by blocking the ad server you're depriving the site of revenue opportunities which pay for the site to stay in business. Of course, if you can't get to the site otherwise, they aren't making any money anyway.
