Motherboard for q6600 processor

I need recommendations for a motherboard for the q6600 processor. I heard p35 and 680i are both the boards for gaming. P35 being able to use DDR3, which I won't be using anytime soon but I like to have the option to upgrade to it sometime in the future when prices drop, but I like 680i for SLI. I would like your knowledgable opinions. Which kind of boards will give the best performance now and in the future each having pros and cons. Individual board recommendations also wanted.

UPDATE: I heard the x38 is coming out Q3 2007...its another option.

Welcome to the forums. Check the posts, this is a popular topic right now for obvious (July 22) reasons. There's plenty of discussion on 680i vs. P35, and plenty of board specific discussions. People can get a little... cranky, if it's apparent a n00b didn't read before posting. 😉

Determine whether or not you'll actually use SLI. If not, the P35's pros quickly stand out.

Someone may provide input. With 680i, you don't have to worry about feature selection because most boards are packed with all options. The P35 however, you have to know wheter you'll do RAID, want DDR3 support, etc.

Check newegg.com to see what P35 boards people are buying. Abit has three solid offerings that progress with features.
