motherboard for p2-400....abit bx6r2?

This motherboard comes highly recommended from a friend. For now I can put in a spare p2-400. It will merely be a low-end server, running an ircd and a quakeworld server (maybe half-life as well) on linux with 128 mb of pc100. If worse comes to worst I can find a p3-700e to plug in there and oc...of course, it would deserve more ram for it's troubles.

Or is it a better idea to get a duron 600 and kt7 for $200?

But why do that when I can upgrade my existing machine from 950 ath to 700 t-bird (and oc to 950) and use the 950 as a server?

That's the thought process that traps me...

should I just get a new motherboard for the processor I already have?

in other words...is it worth it to upgrade my ath off-die l2 @950 to a t-bird 700...when I could just get better cooling and run at, say...1150? It's on an abit ka7 as it were...

any help would be appreciated. ^_^
