Would really like to utilize an Intel build with my newly purchased i7 3770k. I have never had an Intel build and would like a motherboard capable of overclocking easily and somewhat future proof. I assume I should start my search with the z77 chipset, other than that I am totally lost as there are so many different motherboards and numbers its insane. I don't want bottom of the line as I would like to have the mobo for some time, but not looking to drop $200 either. Anything helps thanks a milli!

Well, first you need to tell us the features you expect.
Do you need PCI?
Video outputs? (Display port?)
Multiple graphics card support?
Better-quality audio, Dolby/DTS encoding?
Do you need WLAN?
Do you regularly put a lot of load on the network interface?
Are you overclocking to beyond 4.5 GHz?
Do you already have a case?
Can you get away with microATX or even mini ITX?
How many storage devices do you need to connect?
Interested in Thunderbolt?

These days the choice of motherboard is mostly about features. They're all sufficiently durable, especially if you already go for a Z77 board.

you said you are 'not looking to drop $200', so what are you willing to spend? $100? $150?
