I'm getting myself an i5 2500k and 8 GB DDR3-1600 ram in the near future (think within the next 7 days likely) but need to decide on a motherboard to go with it.

My budget is around £80 or so. I could perhaps stretch a little higher, but money is tight so I want to keep it as cheap as possible.

The computer will be used solely for gaming (1920x1200), although I am aware that I will need a new graphics card soon. Ideally I would like the motherboard to be Gen3 so I can take PCIe3.0 cards and have Crossfire/SLI capability just in case. I also need a PCI slot for my soundcard.

Any suggestions? I'm not averse to buying second hand if needs be.

You will get a lot of suggestions for Asus and ASRock boards. I just finished a new build with an i5 2500K and overclocked it to 4.6 then stopped and currently running at 4.2. I spent months reading up on boards and went with an MSI board, model Z68A GD55 GEN3, which means with a bios upgrade it can run ivy. Easy to overclock and there is an almost indentical board the GD65. I paid $135AR on Amazon for it.

The P67 boards (GD65) can run Ivy Bridge as well can't they? Am I right in saying the chipset lineup is like this:

H67 - graphics
P67 - overclock
Z68 - both
