Hi, a friend of mine bought a kickass system about a year or so ago, and recently he's run into some money troubles, and his system died too. He RMA'd lots of components, including his Asus Striker Extreme 680i. He got everything replaced, except the guys who sold him his mobo, they said it was broke, they weren't going to replace it, and if he wanted to he could send them money to send it back to him.

Now he can't afford to buy anything new as he's in severe money troubles, but me and some friends were thinking of buying him a replacement motherboard.

Any suggestions? I haven't yet managed to find the Striker Extreme 680i anywhere.

Edit: Or would you even recommend getting a Striker Extreme at all? He lives in Europe, and I just found it for ?155+?20 shipping. Thats about $270 I think?

Second Edit: And speaking of Europe, which US online retailers ship to Europe, if any?

It would be helpful to know all the other components in the system.

I wouldn't recommend getting another Striker Extreme, but if he has two video cards he's tied to Nvidia chipsets.

If he only uses one video card, he won't need another striker extreme. I would get a p35 or p45 board for the best deal you can find, with a local warranty from the dealer. I use asrock, an off brand, but it works ok for me.

Yeah P45 sounds like the ticket. If he's not overclocking, even a P43 would be fine.
