Hello experts, thank you for looking, I have a question, I am thinking of buying an Abit VT6X4 motherboard, what is your opinion on that?

Oh I keep hearing that Abit makes bad motherboards, are their motherboards really that bad? Also do they have warrenty for repairs or anything like that?

one last thing, since I am a newbie, can you please tell me what is RMA or MB that you guys were talking about on this board, MB is not megabyte is it?

Abit's RMA policy is to charge your $25 to take back and repair/replace your motherboard should it be defective in any way. That means you have to pay $25 for what should really be free under warranty. Most other manufacturers do not do this.

Abit boards have a reputation for a higher than usual failure rate.

By MB, we generally mean motherboard rather than megabyte...depending on the context.

I would recommend an ASUS board over an Abit board.

I have owned a few motherboards...
and of those, I've owned a few Abit's and asus'..
(including a A7V which took me a few weeks to iron the bugs out in:p)

I've never had any motherbaords fail from either Abit or Asus, however, I prefer the layout of the Asus boards better. (on my abit board my power connector to the motherboard went OVER the CPU:) not sure if its like that anymore, I hope not:)

The ASUS boards generally have a really clean layout.

We use the VT6X4 on all our budget builds, and it's pretty solid for what it is. Make sure you install the VIA 4-in1 updates, which eliminates alot of headaches. But other than that, we've been prety happy with em. On the flip side, I still think Asus makes the best mobo's...period. But we like Abit as well :)
