MotherBoard Dilemma

Well, here's I bought so far

AMD 1.33 Tbird
Volcano II (for light overclocking, perhaps 1.4,1.45)
512 mb DDR 2100

Now, I'm ready for a MB:

Requirements:
FSB Adjustments to 150mhz
Able to tweak voltage
accepts 184 pin DDR, of course
Stability
Must work with SB Live
Do not want RAID

Epox 87KA
NewEgg is out of stock on the Epox 87KA (which is what I want). Mwave has it but I am a little discouraged by resellerratings posts.

Asus A7M266
Too hard to find, Asus has stopped production.

Asus A7A266
Newegg has this, but that ALI chipset doesn't get the rave reviews. Asus has stopped production.

Asus A7V266
Yeah right, who knows if it will ever come out.

Gigbyte GA-7DX-R
Too hard to find in US, too bad the non-raid version doesn't have the FSB and voltage tweaking capabilities

MSI K7T266
Once again, Hard to find a good price from reputable dealer with this

I think I've outlined the major contenders of boards that will suffice. Any others that meet the above requirements? What would you do?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Go for the Epox board. That's what I have, and it's great.

As for mwave, I've always had good experiences with them. I've bought a whole lot of stuff from them over the past few years, with no problems. Their return policy can be a bit of a pain, but I haven't had to use it very often.

Well, took a gamble with a new vendor for me Mwave. Hopefully I will get a new (not returned) Epox 87KA. I'm real tired of a celery 266.

Well since you asked for "any advice" 🙂 :

Next time buy the cpu after the motherboard, especially if you're not sure what to get. CPU prices drop much more quickly than mobo prices. You probably would have saved a few bucks.

I've had good luck with mwave in the past. Actually they sold me an OEM IBM hdd that was supposed to be new but turned out to be used. I told them I'd keep it if they credited me $20, and they agreed so I'm fine with it.

Anyway, enjoy your new system!

Yeah, I agree with you that ordering the CPU and Memory after the motherboard is a much better idea. I had the CPU and Fan in my basket at newegg and then realized that the Epox was out of stock. At $189 for the CPU, I thought I'll buy it and purchase the motherboard somewhere else. Then I realized the DDR motherboard market is shrinking incredibly fast, because of miniscule market demand (Us overclockers are really in the minority). I guess you can blame it on Intel "Blue Group" marketing. Oh well, live and learn

Cheers.
