motherboard dead?? will not give any error codes

well, my friend just got a new case and power supply for his existing machine because the old psu was crapping out. he got a 400w antec psu. we plugged all of his new stuff in the new case and i turned it on before even putting any cards or drives in it. the machine gave an error stating there was no video.. nothing unusual there. i plugged all of the drives in, and for no real reason turned it on again. it still gave the missing video error. finally i plugged all the cards in, in the same slots they were in before, even. turned it on and it posted just fine. it didnt have the keyboard, mouse or monitor plugged in, so i went to get those, plugged those in and turned it on.. no post...no errors codes.. after much trial and error i have ended up with no cards or drives in the machine. its just a motherboard with a cpu and a psu. it does not give any error codes anymore and does not post. i really have no idea what is wrong with this thing and im hoping its not a dead motherboard.

the system has a soltek sl75frn-l with an athlon xp 2000+. thanks for any help you can give.

tried diff cpu, ram, psu, still doesnt work. for some reason it did start 'resetting' itself like some boards do when they dont detect a cpufan connected. but it stopped that after a while.

Then it does sound like a bad mobo. Also, could be something is shorting out. Try removing the mobo and reinstalling making sure the mobo isn't being shorted out somewhere.

now with random jumper changing action!

ok, i just screwed around with jumpers for a little while and i found one that makes it turn on. i dont know why this suddenly caused a problem as it is the same setup as before and no jumpers were changed in the transplant. but whatever, it works now.

ok, in the end that board stopped working and we figured it was just a crap board.. we just got the replacement board in the mail, its an epox 8KRA2+ well, it doesnt give any errors either...and according to the diagnostic LEDs it doesnt go through POST it just goes straight to FF, which means it is attempting to boot... so i dont understand whats goin on here.

edit: scratch that..it turns out the cpu is dead even though it worked fine in another computer...and the soltek is dead as well because that just wouldnt work period.. so new cpu time
