I'm going to try to make this as simple a question (or series of questions) as possible. I tend to talk about too much when all I really want is someone to tell me to 'get this' and have other people agree with them. =P here goes

What motherboard should I get that will allow me to eventually run two ATI 4850 512mb PCIe 2.0 x16, with them both running at 16x instead of 8x by 8x?

Ok so now let me do my little dance about what I've already picked out and ask if it'll be nice as pie. First, I'd like to point out that this will be an upgrade from my current rig and I do not intend on getting the best of the best by a decent margin. I've more or less come down to a pretty definite list, but some blanks do need to be filled.

Here's what I've planned so far:

CPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16819103289

Memory:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820145184

Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814102770

SATA Hard Drive for OS:(my current drives are IDE - 80gb/250gb + 750gb external)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16822135106

I had a combo deal with the CPU that included at 750w PSU since my 420w Thermaltake PSU that came with my Thermaltake Soprano case won't cut it. Oddly enough, that offer has expired (or maybe it said the expiration date and I didn't notice) and has been replace with a Motherboard Combo (see CPU link for combo).

This is the motherboard they comboed it with:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813131224

So it seems my question was answered before I finished the post. Can I get some comments on the Asus motherboard still along with any other comments/recommendations on my build thus far? Guess I'll also be needed to get a seperate PSU now, too.

Thanks in advance and I'll talk to ya'll soon!

any amd 7 series north bridge (790gx,780g,ect) will do. I recommend you get a mb with the 7 series southbridge too if you want to upgrade to phenom later as they overclock much better.

If you want a really good board at a price that truly can not be beat look no farther than the BioStar TP45 HP, it was only 99.00 @New Egg. This board holds the world record for highest FSB (I think 720 it may have fallen by now thought?). for $99.00 plus shipping you'll find none better......OPPs the price went up on me. $109.00

But don't take my word for it, do the home work an see for yourself!

Biostar TP45HP

thought the 800Mhz will hold you back I still had very nice over clocks on this board!
Cheers!

That runs 2 x 8 though on the pci-e. How much difference will that make? Otherwise this looks like a nice option.

From what I remember there's no difference between dual 16x and dual 8x when it came down to actual performance.
