Motherboard - CPU - small - economical on power - to fit in a car...

Hi, I need a little help on a setup to go in a car...

The problem is that I am limited in space and espezially on power...

Now I am looking for a Motherboard, that has most things onboard, and does not suck too much energy...

I read about the EPIA's... Seem to be perfect, the only thing I don't like is the soldered on processor and of course the facts this guy gives... click here

Now the question is if there is anything else you know of to set up a multimedia device, that does MP3, DVD, AVI's, that type of thing, and especially is upgradeable...

I really appreciate

P.S. I wonder if anybody would know about a PSU DC to DC...

Ok, forgot something,,,

I am planing on connecting a 8 - 10" display, LCD with touchscreen overlay... Running a resolution of 640 by 480...

It would be good to have s-video out on the motherboard... since it is easier to get the display then hooked up...

Thank you...

I've been thinking about this also, but I'm not interested in video, except for some sort of control panel.
One question that came up ... are there any cases with power supplies that will take 12V DC. Seems kind of pointless to run an inverter to get 120V AC, then roll it back to DC again.

To answer my own question...

Mini-ITX BareBones with 12V DC input

Ok, I wanna thank you first, and then excuse me for beeing late, I am kind of busy at the moment, so I will write later on tonight...

Hi, I am back...

now the iOpener, I cannot fit in the car the way I want it to, also, I don't like this thing too much...

now the archos, in case it is that 20Gig thing, I also don't like, since there is no good menue which makes it terrible to operate, my own experience...

Thank you anyway, but I think I will stick with either a little board and a celleron or the VIA all in one nice little solution...

Thank you

Yea, other problems with the iOpener IIRC...
need USB NIC
need to do some mucking around in the bios to get it to see a HD
need to hack around at some stuff to get an external speaker lead
screen is to big & attached to unit.

I'm using a Shuttle SS51G at home, and it is great. It hasn't given me any problems. I don't know if you have the space for this, but you can fit a Celeron or a P4. It's upgradeable and has most of what you need built in.
