Motherboard/CPU/Memory not powering up - what kind of power supply do I need?

So I ordered a bunch of parts to build a PC awhile back. Plugged in what I thought was needed to power it up, but could not get it to do so. So I gave up and just kind of left it there.

Then awhile later a guy came over to set up my AT&T internet. He saw the partially built computer and asked what the deal was. I told him, and he instantly said (I think) "well, I can tell you why its not turning on right now - you are missing the 8-prong power connector". He told me what to order but I forgot as its been so long.

So my motherboard is a Gigabyte GI-Z97X- SLI. Socket 1150.

My power supply is a Logisys that says it supports ATX 20/24 and Serial ATA.

Although I think the main power connector is plugged in, I believe the one he was saying is missing is the connector on the board that says "ATX 12V 2X4" on it. It has 8 total pins (4x2). Indeed, my power supply does not seem to have a 4x2 connector.

Does this sound like the problem? If so what is the power supply specification/rating I need to order? By the way, what wattage should I order to be on the safe side. Assume dual 980TI's or dual pascals or whatever is coming down the pipe. I do not want to go overboard, but something likely sufficient. 600W?

LogiSys is an overrated crap brand. Get a real PSU.

Antec, Corsair, Enermax, or SeaSonic.

You definitely need the 2x4 pin cpu connector, otherwise as you have found, it wont power on.

Talk about a contradiction... You build a PC, leave it half built, then want to spec for dual 980Ti's... but don't want to go overboard. *scratches head*

To answer your question... a good 600w PSU would be appropriate for a single GTX980Ti, 850-1000w for dual 980Ti's, from...

Antec, Corsair, Enermax, or SeaSonic.
