Motherboard CPU Limits

Can a future motherboard bios update raise the multipliers allowed on most current boards (to over 12.5) so near future processors can be used (2 GHz+)? Is this commonly done?

no. all about voltages, changing socket types, FSB speeds etc etc. so no.

it's possible yes, depending on why the multipliers werent supported originally.

If a current series processor were updated with current parameters and the only change was clock setting, voltage, and other user changeable parameters, then a supporting bios could be updated as long as the chipset allows it..
