p5200 first off, welcome to the forums.

It's impossible to say if that's a good choice for you, although there's nothing wrong with either component per se. You should post answers to these so we can help you out better: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=80121. It'd also help to post your current specs.

On newegg, you can get a combo with an Asus Z87-A for $360, or $30 less. The Z87-A is better than the Z87-K in a lot of ways: improved power delivery & overclockability (8 vs 4 phases), PCIe 3.0 x8/x8 support, better sound, more audio ports, DisplayPort and a larger amount of onboard headers and buttons.

You can get the combo for even less at Microcenter, in-store only.

We really need to know your full specs before we can asses an upgrade. Otherwise we won't know what the potential compatibility issues are.

Yeah I know, I'll see what I can do to list more in such as ps /memory/ ssd etc. I got all components from NewEgg as far as usage, the only gaming that's done is by the wife and just facebook games. About all I do is browse the net and go to different forums. By the way, this seems like a great forum with very good info I hope to learn from. Thanks!

As others said, you need to fill out the sticky and carefully examine your current and future usage patterns. For the usage described, a has well quad is complete overkill.

I usually go overkill on everything especially, on upgrading my audio components ps caps/ rectifiers etc. I figure one of my grand kids may wind up with it some day and they play some types of games unless, it's ancient by then. I'll check out the stickie you mentioned I'm still trying to figure out everything in this new forum it appears, I'm a little slow at it sorry folks. :hmm:

Those parts are all compatible with the new motherboard and CPU, but given your usage, I don't really see the need for an upgrade. The i7 750 should be totally fine for those purposes.

Oh I know, this is just one of those cases where a person builds a project they want not what they need. But, I'll have room to expand in case different needs arise. Any way, I sure do appreciate all of the skilled advice I have gotten for my first post on the forum. Thanks folks! 🙂
