I was interested in the ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULAR x48 MOBO
but my friend told, Intel is going to publish a new core..And X58 is coming along with that
he said x48 is waste...so, he suggest me buy the ASUS P5E instead..
is p5e good enough? I will buy a MOBO in a month, so I am not going to wait the X58...
other components are q6600( or 9300) EVGA 8800GTS. 4G ram, etc..

The X58 boards are for the new 'Nehalem' cpu. Translation: you won't be buying an X58 board soon.

X48 is for the current LGA 775 cpus (eg Core 2 Duo 'Conroes' and 'Penryns'). So if you want to buy an affordable cpu this year, you'll be getting an X48 (or nVidia 790i, etc) board if you want the high end.

On the other hand, why do you feel you need a 'high-end' X48 board? Most people here run their Penryns very well on P35 boards. And P45 is imminent. From the other components you're listing, you sound like you'd do just as well with a good $100-150 P35 board.

Your friend sounds like he knows what he's talking about. I would've recommended P5E as well. It's a solid X38 board. Oh and if you're waiting for a month, wait for P45. It should be out in 2 weeks. Alreadly listed on some UK etailers.
