Motherboard choice for an HTPC

Looking for an HTPC motherboard that has onboard sound and video while also used for the Intel Core2Duo chips (I have the e6600).

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

i recomends you the gigabyte board with P55 chipset ,
i heard that is beteer then X58

you dont need to use a good soundcard , cause the only matter is the video output ,
so choose ATI GPU HD58... or 59... series .

Unfortunately the X58 is LGA1366 and the P55 is LGA1156, neither of which his E6600 will fit into let alone support. Also, (you're forgiven because you're foreign and new here) he's asking for a motherboard option with onboard video and sound, thereby ruling out an ATI GPU.

To the OP:
Sounds like you want something with either an Intel G41 chipset or a NVidia 9300 chipset. The latter will net you better video performance overall (particularly if you do gaming), but costs a bit more and will run a bit warmer.

Zotac GF9300 (NVidia 9300 chipset) - $99:

There's a lot more choices with the G41 chipset too. Basically it boils down to options on the motherboard, and brands you prefer.

yep i missed that. he will get much poorer performance by keeping that and overpaying for an Intel MB. He can just get rid of that cpu and pay $155 for an AMD Mb & AMD x4 620. Better video and audio performance also.

I thought the original poster was just looking for a MB for his intel chip to use as a HTPC.

Not at all... You just forgot this was AT, where even the most direct question is answered in the most ritardedly round about way. Seriously, you don't know how many posts I've made that were as direct as possible only to have 15 responses that didn't answer my question.

Back on topic. I'd recommend the Nvidia IGP b/c they seem to be better supported with the new Flash that is coming out. This will help out if you plan to watch any Hulu-esque stuff on your HTPC.
